All About Our Process

All jewellery is delicate, especially when it’s made with glass!
To keep your jewellery looking new forever, we recommend you keep it inside the plastic bag that it was in when you purchased it. This bag not only keeps the dust out, but it, prevents your other jewellery from rubbing up against your new stuff. The glass used in our creations has been carefully altered to give it that beach glass look, although there are certain pieces that have been coated to give it a beautiful glow, like it once had before we got our hands on it! This coating can scratch off if other things are scraping against it. And lets face it...its glass, so, its pretty delicate! Tossing your jewellery on top of a dresser or a table is a great way to abuse it, so please take care when you are handling these pieces (and all your other jewellery too for that matter!).

All about .925 Sterling and silver plated
Sterling silver is an alloy that containins metals that react with chemicals found in the air (and water) and produce tarnish. High moisture levels, exposure to sunlight and contaminants such as salt water and chlorinated pools and hot tubs increase the reaction that causes tarnish. Take steps to protect sterling silver by keeping it in airtight packages, use tarnish-resistant products (such as tarnish tabs or strips) that absorb harmful chemicals. Also, its best to remove any jewelry before entering the ocean, chlorinated (or saltwater) pools or hot tubsYou will see that I have .925 silver creations, but also, silver plated, which keeps costs down, but still provides the beauty and shine of sliver. No matter which you choose, taking good care of your silver jewelry will ensure that it keeps its beauty for as long as you own it.

All about Gold Filled
With proper care, 14kt gold filled jewelry can last a lifetime. It serves as a cost effective alternative to pure gold jewelry without sacrificing quality and durability. Gold filled jewelry contains 100% more gold than gold plated jewelry, it is generally safe for wearers with sensitivities to common metals, and it is tarnish resistant.

What is gold filled jewelry?
Despite its name, gold filled jewelry refers to a process in which a layer of karat gold is heat- and pressure- bonded to a layer of base metal. This process keeps the metal tarnish resistant because it completely covers the surface of the base metal. It looks like solid gold since its outermost layer is actually gold, however, it is a harder, more durable, and less expensive option than solid gold. Because the layer of gold alloy on gold plated jewellery is so thin, minor scratches can reveal the base metal underneath resulting in tarnishing. So, in the long run not very resistant to wear. Gold filled jewelry on the other hand, lasts longer and stands up to wear. As long as the piece is well cared for, gold filled jewelry can last a lifetime. This is why I prefer to use gold filled metals in my high end gold designs. They are more affordable than solid gold and more durable than gold plated.

How to care for your 14K Gold filled AND your .925 and Silver plated jewelry:

- Store your jewelry in a small plastic bag when you are not wearing it to protect it from chemicals from the environment & moisture.

- Avoid water, perfume, hair spray, and lotions while wearing your jewelry

- While 14kt gold filled jewelry will not tarnish quickly, it may get dirty. The oils from your skin and particles from your environment may transfer to the metal, causing it to lose its brightness. Therefore, you may need to clean your 14kt gold filled jewelry. You can do this using a soft brush (think "childrens toothbrush) and proper jewelry cleaning solution or a very watered down mild dish liquid. Once you have cleaned your piece, make sure its completely dry before storing it away.

- If you just want to brighten it up, using a jewelry cleaning cloth works great, which we have available on our website, and also, when we attend the Markets!
